Sober Living For Stewards of Truckee-Tahoe
We expand upon the traditional concept of substance abuse therapy and mental health services because we prioritize our patients to become stewards of our natural environment by volunteering with local advocacy groups. The three main factors of our treatment process are:
Group Counseling
One-on-one Therapy sessions
Monthly community service hours
All of which are imperative for those in the recovery process.
With a heavy emphasis on community with SERVICE being one of our 5 pillars of values at Crow’s Nest Ranch, those who live here will gain a deeper appreciation for the Tahoe National Forest and all that it has to offer through activities offered and community service hours required.
HOW NATURE POSITIVELY IMPACTS RECOVERY
Reduces Stress
Improves Fitness
Creates Awareness
Facilitates Mindfulness
Most substance abuse is the byproduct of a mental issue where the addict fell into a vicious cycle of self-medication and it has become well-researched that people who spend time outdoors experience decreased stress levels, improved mood, and better success in their recovery.
HOW VOLUNTEERING POSITIVELY IMPACTS RECOVERY
The act of volunteering foregrounds who one is and what they're doing. It gets them out of the house, out of their head, and doing something for the greater good, which in ALL recovery fellowships praise in its assistance to retaining their sobriety.
Volunteering programs foster positivity in life by instilling a sense of well-being and responsibility. It allows people to get to know their worth and purpose while giving to the very best of their abilities. Volunteering also allows individuals to build up working skills and connections with others around them.
Meeting other people with common interests results in a productive support system during the recovery process. It encourages them to remain sober through rewarding activities and mentorship sessions. All this happens in a safe environment away from drugs or alcohol.
Each tenant will be responsible for volunteering at least 10 hours each week at a local environmental organization with an emphasis on the preservation of Lake Tahoe and/or the Tahoe National Forest.
We will partner with other local non-profits who focus on the preservation of our natural playground as well as provide suggested organizations for our tenants to seek out the most up-to-date contact information for those places.
By offering our locality a collection of sober and environmentally conscious residents we will be creating lifelong stewards who prioritize the protection of our natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices to strengthen ecosystem resilience and human well-being.
As these new stewards evolve in their recovery from being a day-to-day challenge into a new lifestyle, their care for our environment will also evolve from a community service requirement into a priority for the betterment of all.
In making sure to promote stewardship, the tenants living at Crow’s Nest Ranch will reap the benefits of being in nature while gaining the perks of volunteering.
