FIT FOR RECOVERY is a weekly morning outpatient group by Crow’s Nest Ranch - a 501c3 - and hosted by Elevated Academy of Martial Arts. These groups are designed for those in recovery to learn to replace the highs of substance use with healthy endorphins and earned dopamine through the use of exercise.

When & Where: Every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:00 Am - 8:00 AM at Elevated Martial Arts (10775 PIONEER TRAIL, STE 112, TRUCKEE CA 96161)

What To Expect:
This is a bodywork-focused meeting. We begin each session with a short yoga-based stretch routine to center the mind and warm up the body. The 30-minute workout is a combination of a heavy bag workout, calisthenics, and weight training. You can expect to be doing squats, planks, pushups, and burpees paired with kettlebell routines, battle ropes, wall walks, and heavy punching bag routines. Each stage will is done in short 3-minute rounds for 9 rounds followed by one 9-minute “smoker round”. Better known as a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout, this style of exercise provides a great full-body workout. We end these meetings with a short cool-down stretch and a 15-minute discussion of the weekly theme as it relates to our recovery.

All exercises can be modified to meet your fitness level.

THREE PILLARS OF FIGHT FIT FOR RECOVERY

  • SELF-DISCIPLINE

Creating discipline and accountability helps those in recovery stay on track when our emotions and stresses run high. Developing discipline is hard but the good feelings resulting from responsible living are worth it.

  • SELF-RESPECT

Treating yourself with respect starts with staying true to your values and not being willing to compromise. The more you engage in consistent behaviors, the more you'll feel fulfilled and confident in your path.

  • SELF-CONTROL

Managing our impulses begins with resisting desires for immediate gratification. By testing our resilience in challenging situations we learn to overcome them and retain our sobriety.
