The Importance of Impermanence

Impermanence - im·per·ma·nence /imˈpərmənəns/ noun

  1. the state or fact of lasting for only a limited period of time.

"we describe the impermanence of human existence"

Life is ever-changing and continually presents challenges in every aspect of our lives. There is not a single person on this planet who is exempt from this fact. However, it is what we do when we are faced with various life obstacles that we have total control of. As addicts, we must be mindful to adjust and adapt to one’s expectations and understand that most things in life are impermanent.

By keeping impermanence in the foreground of our daily lives we manage to live in the present moment while increasing happiness and reducing that triggering effect of dwelling on difficult situations. Emphasizing and accepting the impermanence of life is one of the keys to reducing and being free from attachments and suffering. Only then can a person find true inner peace and enlightenment.
